Thermostat replace

Just replaced my factory stat, Temp was fine driving but idle at stops was heating up. Normal temp 180, idle temp up to 215. With new stat in place new normal won't go below 190 and idle temp will run to about 205. fan fuse was blown , replaced it today. not sure why I cannot get back to the low 180's??

Did they sell you a 190F t-stat? Been reports of that lately.

Assuming you mean after replacing the fuse.

The fan goes on at about 219 and then goes off at 180.

That's what it sounds like, got it from Advanced Auto. Just rechecked with them today they said only one listing for the 2.4 engine. but it has all the earmarks of a higher temp. this is a 2011.

Lately a few people have posted this type of problem. Fact is: All HHRs use the same 180F t-stat. Evidently the books got wrong info of late.

So now I'm guessing the fan never goes off?

Never gave it a chance because it was late and just got off work. Replaced the fuse made sure fan was running the shut it down. 5:00pm got 4 pugs was chore time. I'll know in the morning on me way to work. But probably will because it never gets below 190.

I still have the original tstat in my 08 Panel and the lowest I have seen at operating temp is 189. Been that way since new.

"Normal" operating temp is around 189F. However, the fan should come on at about 219"F and stay on until it gets down to 180F.

So, no problem if it stays around 190F. Only special circumstances should get up to 219F, like idling on a hot day.

Still have factory T stat in my 06 with 175K. Normal temp sits around 190 under special circumstances can get down to 187. Fans kick in at 217 (can feel it) and the actually hits 219 before cooling back down to around 190 or so.
