Trailer lights

Anybody run into this problem?

Had a hitch and trailer light wires installed, for a kayak trailer.

All the lights work fine, during the day.
But as soon as I turn on the HHR headlights, they are messed up.
The brake lights go on with the headlights and stay on, until the brakes are pressed then all the trailer lights go off.

I'm going to go in and have it looked at, but for now daytime towing only.

Do you turn auto lights off during the day? I never turn my headlights on or off...they are always on.

I don't either, "Auto" stays on all the time.

But when it gets dark and the headlight turn on, it happens.
Or if I do turn on the headlights manually it happens.

Last night and was good checked trailer lights as I left boat landing, it got dark on the way home. That's when someone told me.

I opened up the side light compartment, to make sure they didn't wire it up themselves.

But they did use a prewired plug-in kit. Just like the one in the etrailer video.

My trailer lights work day & night (lights on & off). You have the wires crossed somewhere.

It's in the trailer somewhere, so not a HHR issue cause tried it on another car some problem.

The brake light run through the BCM so I'm thinking a resistance thing. Do the turn signals work? does Cruise control work (CC won't work if the brake lights are not working correctly)?

Not positive, but I think 3157 is the "long life" version of 1157.
