vehicle service history.

Hello once again! Im surfin the web searching for the best deal for a timing chain and guide kit for of course.. my HHR, i went into the dealer and asked if they could print off the service records for the life of the car, they said they can only see what has been done to the car at their dealer. So my question is, does anybody know a way or site that i can get EVERY service record for my car, obviously for peace of mind and so i can see what is going to need to be changed out soon. The timing chain is a sure fire thing. Im at 95k, and i drive pretty hard every once in awhile, so the timing chain is just a necessary thing for me. God knows how long that set has been spinning around in there. Thanks in advance! ~Young

Dealership records are available because they have a computer based nationwide service system linked with other dealerships.
Now. If a car was worked on at "Joe Smiths Backyard Grease Monkey Shop", well I doubt there is any record of it anywhere. I doubt that the Grease Monkey shop even has a computer.
Same thing goes for someone that does their own repairs. If you replace your own timing chain, are you going to "report" it to some website? I wouldn't think so.
Point is. If the car is serviced anywhere other than the dealer, it's doubtful that there is a record of it.

Check with your service manager, I believe that they can pull the records linked to your VIN as long as the work was done at a GM dealer.

My dealer in NC had no problems pulling up warranty repairs made to one of mine up in Wilkes-Barre PA at the Chevy dealership.

Repairs made at independent shops, well unless the previous owner left them in the glovebox, you'rs outta luck really.

At 95k, the timing chain wouldn't keep me awake at night, add another 100-150k on top of that, then it's time to think about changing it out.

Right lol I know Joe Schmoe and myself aren't reporting DIDDLY lol. how would you even?... nvm haha, but yea thats what I asked them and they said ONLY SERVICE DONE AT OUR DEALER. I figured there was a nationwide database because thats why your GM warranty is honored at ANY GM dealer. Guess I can try a different dealer. I'll do some surfin online and post any info.

843DE--Thanks for the tip! Never thought they were that durable! Well I guess I can put that off for awhile then lol, still wanting to do that balance shaft delete though...

Go to the link below and request a GMVIS report using your VIN. You'll have to join the site (LS1GTO.com). I'm a member so if you'd like, I can request it for you.
