Assuming the oil life was reset at dealer (bought car 12/18/13 and it was 100% then).

Do you change oil when you hit 3K miles or 3 months or when the oil life gets down to...what percentage?

 

I change the oil (M1) when the DIC says to. The longest I've gone has been 11,000 miles and the DIC was at 19%. (I did a lot of highway driving) I have 128K+ miles on the clock, the car uses no oil between changes. My last oil change 4000 miles ago, the DIC says 69% today. GM spent a lot of $$ and created the algorithm that monitors oil. It seems to work on my HHR. It doesn't seem to work very well for the 2.4L DI engines used in the Equinox/Terrain, as they have reprogrammed the computer.

You car, your money, change it as often as you want.
