Wiper Transmission ?

I may have to change the Wiper Transmission on my son's 2011 2LT
He can snap the part that pops off back on ,and it stays awhile.
But with weather slowly getting warm time to replace it IMO but have to look at it
You Tube videos look like very easy ,3 bolts to remove it and just the basic cowl or what ever you call it !
Anything I need to know ?
Any tips on what NOT to do ?
The wiper motor is fine !
FYI Looks like a Putz like me can do it lol
The Dorman part is in stock at O Reilys and the other part stores as well.
Rock Auto is cheaper but not Dorman and with shipping not much cheaper !
Was going to try this week but showers this whole week :O
Thanks

My son was wondering if we could drill a hole and put in a bolt . So That must be the same thing they are talking about in the link you posted :)
The Dorman Part is 100 $ so if I can save him that it would be great !
I tried the search box a few time Wiper Transmission and I got everything but lol

Dorman gets many of their parts from "anywhere". How many wiper transmissions do you think could fit on a couple of pallets in a shipping container that costs somewhere around $3000 and can hold about 100 of those pallets to ship from China? My guess is a years supply for every vendor in the USA. Probably a unit cost of $3 F.O.B. Long Beach, sell for what you can get.

drilling a hole and inserting a bolt is always easy and almost always useful, you can also try rivets instead of bolts, there are building riveting hand tools...
if you choose bolts - give preference to rust-proof ones and be sure to use a growers so that the fastening is not disturbed by vibration

Great info Thanks everyone !
Dondrew I have always wondered if Dorman was just rebranded !
The off brands are around 55$
I will see if local has the Off Brand as well and can compare.
It will not get dine this week as it is still raining but gives us time to order if he has to :)

Dorman does manufacture some of the parts they sell, but if you look closely most are identical to everything else. One case in point is a EVAP purge valve in a Dorman package had identical casting marks as the original item it was replacing. I guess they could have made a mold of the original and didn't bother changing the "clock" like they do in castings. But my guess is there was an initial production rub of millions and GM only needed thousands of them; the rest sold to whoever wanted them.

That does make a lot of sense. Like Car Batteries, I think about 3 manufactures and about 25 different rebrand for same battery lol
My son has in down pat on cowl removal and temporary fix, so when we change it should be real easy !
And from the pictures I have seen a good idea to pull the cowl and clean all the crap out it collects lol

Talked to my son today. He took the wiper transmission off and repaired it. So will see how long it last! Took him maybe 20 minutes ,
