Road trip traffic

Hello everyone, I am from Miami and i am planning a road trip up to Washington D.C but on my way back down i am going to pass by Virginia. My question is what will be the easiest way to get to Luray Virginia from downtown D.C. I will be leaving D.C on a wednesday in the morning heading to Luray. Getting there is not a problem that's what my GPS is for, but i hear the traffic is terrible leaving D.C and i have heard that i should leave before 6:30 am or after 10am because of the traffic. Is this good advice? I really wanted to leave around 8am-9am

issac, It depends on where you are leaving from in DC. I'd try to hop 'cross the Potomac River (as soon as possible), and pick up westbound Interstate 66. Traffic wise you shouldn't be too bad cause you'll be headin' opposite the cluster mess. Seems to me that when I went out yonder I got off 66 at 29 south and took the country ride.

Remember, don't even think about a radar detector in Virginia.
