better breathing ?

hey fellow HHR'ers......
new for the second time to the HHR scene--had an 08' manual trans. a few years back...sold it,......just picked up a 2011 LS automatic, that i absolutely love, and found this forum .......i have no plans of hyping up the stock drivetrain,..........but i am thinking of the magna flow cat back system and the K n' N cold air intake.............just to add pep/sound,am i on the right track or just leave it alone...............found the exhaust for 507.00 (#16655) and airbox ( #63-3056) for 212.00 w/ free overnight shipping.....i will do the install myself...
some other mods planned but will post in the appropriate areas......
thanks for any input

edit -- just listened to some posts of exhaust sounds ....what about just a muffler delete ? w/ the K n' N box

From what I've read, there's my a whole lot,if any, to be gained over the factory intake. As far as exhaust, I haven't seen a lot of aftermarket systems on non as models. There was a member though(can't remember the name) that did a custom 2.5" from a muffler shop that had a slightly deeper/louder note that he was looking for, and it only ran him like $150-200, iirc.

Save your money and just get a Magnaflow muffler. There's a few members here that have the full cat back system and besides a little sound I don't think you'll feel any difference. I did a resonator delete and added a Magnaflow muffler...it sounds great to me...a little on the loud side but I like my cars loud. As for the intake...it's been discussed in much length here on the site. I had a K&N system for a little while but my car hated it...threw codes, etc. I'd just opt for a drop in K&N filter and save some money.

Without a tune, those mods are only going to gain you minimal results.

I went with the K&N filter in the factory air box and a Magnaflow muffler, a little more noise but no real gains in throttle response or mileage or anything else.
