which exhaust sounds the best

hey guys last week i got rear ended on the highway and have some rear end damage the bumper is all scraped up the exhaust has a nice size hole in it and the flex pipe has a hole in it too. the bumper doesnt bother me so much but the noise that the exhaust makes im embarassed to drive it. It does have codes on it but its from the whole in the flex.

I got a price from my insurence company to fix the whole car and they gave me a price for just the exhaust $1150 so instead of putting a new stock expensive exhaust i was thinking a less expensive aftermarket like a flowmaster but i dont want it to be loud and ricey and i cant find any sound clips of the 2.4s with a flowmaster on it.

just tryin to save soe money while giving it a better sound (i hate zingers winers if i could i would make it sound like my trans am)

I couldn't decide from your post which was more important, saving money with the replacement or having a better sounding exhaust system. So, I am just going to address the part of your question to which I can provide some assistance with your choice. Saving money is probably the easiest part of your question to answer as it only has one answer and that is based on price and price alone. Finding a replacement exhaust part for the damaged part could be found easily and cheap from one the areas salvage yards close to where you live.

Here you go--can't beat this deal. If you choice not to buy this then that should satisfy your need to keep it cheap and just go for the more expensive sound.

Flowmaster sounds bad on anything 4, 6, or 8 cyl. Magnaflow can be iffy on some cars, you never know. I have heard it sound good, and sound awful. Borla's single chambers generally make anything sound good. Just nto borla f-body catback's. Cherry bombs and types of likeness, like FM, sounds bad on anything. <^ IMO. Just youtube a bit, if need be, youtube Cobalt's, they generally sound similar.

I have a "OTTO RACING" exhaust on mine and it has a deep sound to it, not that "ricey" sound.

I got a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler and I really like it. The muffler has a very nice sound to it and is not too loud. It is an open design with a plenum in the middle so it has almost not restriction. I have heard a bunch of other mufflers and I like this by far the best of all. The sound is a low powerful rumble sound and not "Ricey" at all.

That's what I used to have. I have a set of very nice dual outlets I was going to use if I replaced the setup. Still in the box. This is a link for where I bought them, I'll make ya a deal.
