K&N Air Intake

I've been toying with the idea of putting a K&N Air Intake on my '06 LS.
They're selling for about $303.00 from K&N. Would it be worth it to install on what is basically just an around town daily driver, or would the only thing I'd notice is $303.00 less in the checking account. I've had a K&N air filter on the HHR since I bought it back in August '05. (About 32,000 Miles ago) Any opinions would be much appreciated!

I have a couple of them K&N intakes, sounds better, but I trifecta tuned it at the same time, I couldn't help it, my other one is an SS, I kept thinking my panel was broke, after driving the SS.....

They sound cool with an open filter...My opinion: I like the sound, but don't expect to feel a difference in power

Personally, I wouldn't bother. I went back to the factory set up. It made no difference, only less money in the pocket.

K&n

What does a K&N Filter set up do for you for $300 plus?

This 3 1/2 inch Corvette set up below will do the same thing, maybe better. Take a file and square that round hole to accept your MAS. The Vette set up is about $50.00. My set up cost me about $25.00 and is just as good as either. The only idea is to get more air in you engine. The K&N looks good installed though.

Thanks for your feedback! I think I'd better think a little more about it.
Maybe I'd get more enjoyment for that money if I put toward some flashy wheels!

Generally any increase in power has to be a complete "system" upgrade such as better flowing intake, better flowing exhaust and a tweek on the computer. Otherwise there might be a little but not much. To get any real gains the heads, valves and cam(s) usually also have to be worked on and in smog limited states that becomes hard to do.

The SS is tuned, and the K&N pipe looks just like the stock one, but it made a serious difference when I installed it. I bought it here for 150.00 with an extra filter, they pop up for sale from time to time. I got the one on the panel same way....Two for 300.00/4 filters had to do it....

SS Fan,

That was a deal and I probably would have went for it too, and I agree, in combination with other mods you will benefit.
