Oil Pressure Guage

Finally got my mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up. Used the middle galley on the back (drivers side) of the engine. Now just trying to get a base reading. Does anyone know what the oil psi should be for a 2.4? I pm'd a couple people about it too so I can pick as many brains of our great knowledgable members as possible
I really don't care for the dash mounted gauge pods. I ordered a universal dual gauge A-Pillar pod from Glo-Shift that I will modify as needed to get the fit and look I want.

50-80 psi at 1,000 rpm per the service manual.

yup, 50 at idle is what you wanna see.

HMMM? Maybe that galley isn't a good pressure one. I'm seeing about 50psi when cold but once warmed up it's hitting 20-25 at crusing speed and 10psi in drive at idle at a red light. I know the line isn't kinked. Checked and recheked that.

My service manual states the minimum is 30 psi and maximum is 70 psi at 1000 rpm (194°F)

I think they changed the specifications in the manual, my copies for the '06 & '07 don't specify an engine temp, but the manual for the 2011 states 30-70psi at 194 degrees.

Where is the sending unit for the light ?

The obvious question is : Are you using the recommended weight oil? Or gone off the "GM" company line? 20/30 will give different readings from 5/15 (leaving the W position out for simplicity).

Always. My dealer changes my oil.

Look at # 9 Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch, it is just above the starter solenoid. Will have wiring connected to it also..

If I were to add an oil pressure gauge, I'd "T" it off the sending unit (switch) for the dash light. Best of both..
