Resonator delete

Alright so I have been talking to Chefhhr about his resonator delete and he seems happy with it.
However I have a few concerns and questions.
First, he has the 2.4, is the exhaust setup the same on the 2.2?
Is there the possibility of throwing a cel for the O2 sensor?
And I'm looking for a little more noise but can't see the point in shelling out 300-500 dollars for an exhaust. It is my daily driver and I don't want it to be annoying inside the car.
Please anyone with answers chime in. This would be my first time ever changing anything on an exhaust system to I am a little skeptical.

If you can find reputable exhaust shop they should be able to do a custom exhaust for much cheaper than pre fab kits. My previous car, an 04 vibe I had a magnaflow 2.25 in/out and an 18in glass pack in place of the resonator. All in including the muffler, tip, glasspack, and new piping from the catalytic converter back was 150. I later replaced the cat con with a 300 cell metal core racing cat. It had a nice deep tone, not loud or annoying but aggressive under WOT

I'll make some calls and ask. Doing a muffler delete. Will it make it sound like a tin can. I know it's common on the turbo engines but that's a totally different animal.

Cutting the resonator ONLY shouldn't be more than 30 or 40 bux. Most of that comes from the new piece of pipe your putting in.

I'm honestly not sure on these ecotec engines. Honestly most of your losses are close to the engine. Your cat and resonator(s) (I've not looked to see how many our hhrs have) affect flow more than the muffler. and yes the resonator makes a big difference in sound. On a turbo car the turbo and manifold absorb a lot of sound, our na eco don't. honestly try a good cheap glasspack or even better spiral flow muffler in place of the stock resonators. you could prob save some money too by using the stock piping and just replacing the muffler and resonator.

This is what you're lookin at. Go to the local muffler shop, tell them what you want. $50 later you're out the door. Now here's what they'll do. Take a sawzall and cut the resonator out, measure, cut the appropriate pipe to replace it and make 2 welds. MAYBE a 20 minute job at most shops. Won't hurt a thing, won't throw a CEL it'll just help you to sound like the ricer fartcans. You're stock mufler will "muffle" some of the sound but in reality, it'll sound like a can of angry bees are under your rear end.

To make it all sound better.....spend $200 at your local muffler shop and they'll help you attain the sound better with what they have laying around the shop. The more you "customize" the more you'll spend but it'll sound better than just deleting the resonator on the stock system.

.......and I'll add one thing.....just personal preference being stated. When you sound like a "ricer" and you ain't got "jack" under the hood to back it up, you become the definition of "Ricer". Keep it quite or stealth. Much better results and satisfaction seein the loosers faces.

Alright i hear what your saying. Thanks for the input. Now one guy here has deleted the resonator and he says it sounds good. I know sound varies by car.

The resonator is there to "smooth" out the sound. Without it, you may wind up with that popping, sputtering, crackling sound on deceleration.
