Adding '49 emblems to HHR
These are reference photos, showing original equipped 1949 Suburban.

Notice the really nice trio. The owner of the closest HHR outdid me.

This is a regular 49 Chevy pickup, but has the same grill and emblems.

Notice the hubcaps on the Suburban in the first photo. I gotta make these work on my '09.

Notice how the back of the wheel is red (the same color as the car)? It might look nice painted white so it matched the car. That might not be as much as whitewalls, it's hard to say.... Eventually you should paint the fenders and running board a different color too!
Oh, and in the picture of the line up, I have to say the middle one looks the best. What? Sure, I'm a little partial to it....

No intention to steal the thread but I wanted to comment on the spoiler discussion.
I live in the Great Pacific Northwest, known for rain.
I put my spoiler on more for it's looks and was surprised by it's affects of keeping the rear window clearer. I'm not saying it keeps it totally clear but it deffinately did make a difference. I even went so far as to remove my wiper arm, I haven't removed the motor yet, just a rubber cap over the stem for now, but I do like the looks without the wiper arm better.

CrazyCarKid, I don't know yet exactly what I'm going to do about the wheels. That may well be a six-pack decision, we'll see. By the way, I thought that WAS your car in the photo.
Tikker, you didn't steal my thread, as it's all about the progress of my mods, and the spoiler is one of the future mods. I lived in the Monterrey area on the Central California coast for several years, so I know the benefits of a spoiler regarding rain, I hope it's as effective with dust.

I've been on the hunt for 2 years for one, the only company that I've found that ever offered this particular item is Lund, and according to them, it was discontinued in 2006. So far, I've had no luck finding anyone local who would help fabricate one for Dory.
Not to detour from the current topic of spoilers, but I have to know....
How did you do the hood ornament mod? It looks GREAT! I was looking to do something like this, but was worried about the fit....it looks like the ornament you used fit flush or close to it, with little modifications....good job.
I love what you have done!

The hood ornament is a standard one from a 47-51 Chevy. They had about three or four styles. There is a slight gap but I have a rubber gasket that I got the other day, to fix it with. Got the ornament off eBay, vintage, not a repo, for $20. You can get everything from a company called LMC Trucks ( lmctruck.com). Look for emblems. My new grill is almost finished, but the boys in the body shop are really slow. I do a lot of free vinyl graphics for the hot rodders, and they do things for me for free. However, they aren't fast.
I'm pretty smug about everything and the rate it's progressing. When you get smug, that's when Murphy's Law jumps up and bites you. Any ways, I'll have photos on everything and will post them as soon as I get the grill back and installed. I really think you guys will be pleasantly surprised.
