I have the bright chrome roof side rails factory mounted on my 2007 HHR LT but like all of the ones on the lot at my dealer, there are no cross rails installed. After checking with parts at the dealership and learning they would set me back a couple hundred, I was curious if cross rails could be obtained from a junk yard and installed on the side rails. From what the parts guy told me, the side rails accept the "standard t-mount" cross rails (well actually the cross rails they sell use that mount so I figure the reverse is also true). I'm hoping I can spend some time "shopping" at a couple junk yards for intact roof racks and pull the cross bars to install on my HHR after getting them cleaned up finish wise.
