Black chrome paint?

I've seen these kits at Advance and other places for DITY two stage black chrome kit. I have 2 questions, does this work and how well? And does it work on chrome plated plastic?

I may have a future project....

I think the product you are refering to is caled VHT Night Shades.
It's a spray on "tint" that can be applied over the chromed plastic.
I have never used it, so others can jump in...

This isn't night shade tint. It's actually listed as a black chrome kit. Comes with the "black chrome" tint spray and a clear coat spray. Might be close (or even the same) as night shades, but it's advertised differently. Run's about $18 at Advance.

It's made for wheels so the clearcoat should be moderately tough material... Should be no problem on chromed plastic. Make sure the surface is clean before spraying.

You thinking about doing the grille?

Used it on my grille, it looks good but will chip over time, Mine's been done for 2 years now and needs re-doing.

When I first did it up:
