Just paint it or get a vinyl overlay.

You can find overlays for anywhere from $5 to $25. Try ebay or Amazon. They do them in any color, some with borders and others with the SS logo. I got black with white SS logos for the grille and the wheels.

Painting the SS front bowtie

I hear you! I did not like the stock bowtie color and did not want to mask off the whole front of the car to paint it. What I decided to do was remove the front grill and do the task on my workbench. I masked out the chrome trim around the bowtie, ruffed the bowtie up with 400 grit wet sandpaper, cleaned it off with a rag and paint thinner then sprayed with Krylon satin black to match the grill work. I used blue masking tape around the bowtie, plastic stretch wrap to mask the whole grill assembly and then newspaper taped over the plastic leaving just the surface of the bowtie to spray. Use a flat tool to carefully push the masking tape at the edge where it meets the chrome trim and bowtie surface that is to be painted. That way you get a real clean and sharp edge where they meet. After painting, I carefully removed the newspaper and the masking tape and set the grill aside to dry overnite. The next day I removed the plastic wrap. Just pop the hood and take a look at how the grill is attached. There's only 5 fasteners (nuts) to remove. Pay attention to the various brackets & fastener positions before you pull it off. Sometimes taking a digital photo BEFORE you start disassembly will help you get it all back together correctly. Go for it!
