Bowtie Painting questions

so i have been searching for the past 20 minutes, and have yet to find what i'm after. i want to color match my bowties, front and rear, and need some additional info to help make the decision on whether to paint or go vinyl. what kind of prep work is needed before painting the bowties? obviously i'd want to mask the car. any sanding or anything of that sort i should do? any particular type of paint? i'm thinking satin black Krylon Fusion, made for plastic (apparently bonds to the molecules of the plastic or something like that). are there any pros/cons to going paint or vinyl? if i go vinyl, what is the best place to get them at, and do they cover the gold part totally, like wrapping down over the edges and everything? sorry, more questions than i thought, but they kept coming into my head once i started typing.

thanks in advance!

I used duplicolor silver and black, sanded lightly with 800, sprayed with adhesion promoter and then paint, had clear but chose not to in case I didnt like what I did. Turns out I didn't need it, looks good enough for now as I am changing grilles anyway.

thanks for the advice guys. as for the burbank run, i'd love to make it, but i work graveyard shift, midnight to 8, and i work through the weekend i will try my best to make a meet soon. i would really like to meet my fellow HHR enthusiasts. any chance of a meet in the near future being a little further north? maybe closer to the Ventura vicinity? that's only a 1 1/2 hour drive for me...if not, i might have to take a vacation day one of these times lol.
