As for the hot button nature of the "Search" function, it's probably one of the most unintentionally contentious topics here.

There is a little tutorial by our Moderator whopper on the Homepage, and if you're familiar with using Google to search for things, it works great because we spent weeks working with Google to develop our search utility.

So please accept my apology on behalf of the site for the umm...grumpy posts above. We try to encourage the use of the Search function by new and old members alike because we're entering a decade online and the sheer number of archived treads numbers into the tens of thousands.
