A couple weeks ago I noticed my passenger side Depo is... peeling. There seems to be some kind of coating over the lens that's simply disintigrating.



You can see all across the top, and another area directly in front of the main beam.

Has anyone else with Depo's had/seen this happen?

Mine have the same film. Been on little over a year.
Mines on the passenger side too.

I think that like how alot of headlight housings are produced your are seeing a layer of the laminate wearing off! Only thing that can help is to try and do a headlight restore! Caution not to buff to hard as you may wear through more layers .....

 

You might try contacting the Depo people....you never know. At a minimum maybe they can tell you how to repair it with the products they use (if you really want to go in that direction again). Otherwise, maybe trying Nightshades or other products that provide the same effect....after a strip of the original product.

 

Oh that sucks. Hopefully some headlight restore will help. Keep us updated if you decide to use the restorer.

 

It's not cloudy or yellow, so I don't know what headlight restorer would do for it. My guess is that it's some sort of UV protective film. I typically only drive a couple miles every other day.

I went on what I think is the Depo site today, it's not very friendly.

 

ding ding ding.... We have a winner. This is a common problem with aftermarket headlights (granted, some factory are worse). Sometimes it's just a particular batch issue. But once started, it won't stop. If Depo isn't going to help out, best bet will be to just start using a headlight restore product and just stay on top of it.

Yeah I did a google search last night before bed and it looks like a universal problem with depo brand headlights across many different brands and platforms. Who did you buy them from online? You may be able to contact the seller and get them to warranty them for you. They should have at least a one year warranty I'd think.
