neon kit

I am now on day two of trying to wire up some LED tubes. What a pain in the ass it is to run a fish tape through the sub-frame. Im doing this as an attention getter for the track. I've also lit up the entire engine bay. Ill post pics when it gets dark. Thats of course only if im finished.

Finally got around to taking some pics, sorry about the stars, long exposures are like that. I have been running around the past couple of days with these on... Obviously the cops around here don't care, as one pulled up tonight while I was taking pictures and didn't say a word, and the other night I pulled into a gas station where there were three cruisers and again nothing was said about the neons. I could have sworn these, or at least red, blue, and yellow were illegal because of rescue and police vehicles. Huh.

I never was good at night shots.

All in all I am pretty pleased with the results, although the kit was less than spectacular in its provided parts, and instructions. The leads are short so a solder iron is a must, as well as shrink wrap for the connections. The switch is crap, bought a much better one. The instructions are almost non-exsistant, and the provided mounting hardware will not work with the way the running boards are attached. I really felt like I was kit-bashing, and scratch modding on this one. Also, if you want to protect the wires a fish tape is a must.

For under the hood, I used LED strips attached to the radiator upper crossbeam, and 2 more strips attached to the firewall just under the cowl. It also has a switch conviently attached to the drivers side firewall. With it on and the hood shut it glows around the radiator and IC.

I normally think this is a 90's ricer mod, but hey for 50 bucks why the hell not.

Whoa!!! That looks sweet.

Luck you. Around here you would get stopped in a heartbeat. You have to have like green puple or white here. Red's and blue's are a big no no.

I know they are illegal, I just don't think these cops care... If I do get pulled over for it, I'll just play dumb blonde.

Yeah, positive to battery with an inline switch and fuse ran under the steering wheel. The negative is running to the strut tower. Pain in the ass. I've got all eight lines running to a junction mounted to the firewall

I hard wired some lights in my old maxima. But I wasn't sure about the HHR. Because of where the battery is located. I figured there is no way they give you enough wiring.

And I'm electrically impaired. I may set the darn thing on fire if I do any wiring.
