Have you ever actually seen the output of the MiniD2S? It falls short of the H1. The H1 is a superior projector.

In general though, yes D2S bulbs are better as you can get OEM quality bulbs that last longer, burn brighter, burn cooler, put out less UV to damage your housings, and have more accurately produced capsules. But using the Minis to be able tobhave good D2S bulbs is like buying a Suburban because it had a 300hp LNF it.....the vehicle will hold back the engine. You won't get results anywhere equal to someone running the same engine (bulb) in vehicle (projector) that was optimized to use it, as opposed to just being made to fit.

If you want the benefits of D2S bulbs you news to step up to an FXR or E55 projector, installed in a retrofit they carry about a $100-$140 premium of the Morimoto Minis but the difference in light quality and output is well worth it. Its almost staggering the difference between the MiniD2S and an OEM type projector. I don't recommend them at all unless you already have a significant investment in qualityOEM D2S bulbs and ballasts.

As for the charge what I want part,......I never mentioned my pricing at all, those prices are straight from EBay or TRS and that's what anyone could go buy that stuff for. THEN you need to build them

As for actual retrofit pricing, I don't believe there is anyone who has stepped up to make any retrofits for the HHR and was able to deliver anything for less than $700 PLUS the cost of housings. Ones like Rallys without innerglow are over $100 less than that.

I want a set

From Maven:

I did read about your unfortunate adventures, although not active I've been on the site for a while. It was actually your situation and my friend Rallys proddings that made me decide to build HHR light in addition to ION and Cobalt ones.
As to pricing, I build with Morimoto projectors, ballasts and bulbs from theretrofitsource.com. i believe and they have proven to to be among if not the best of the aftermarket HID components. I also use DEPO housings (unless new OEM housing's are requested) I do not use an over the counter far east made relay harness. I build my own harnesses by hand here in NJ with genuine Delphi terminals, GM spec American made wire, GM spec 300degree wiring conduit, fully sealed and weatherproofed skirted GM OEM style Tyco relays and sealed fuse holders with only quality American mad Littlefuse brand fuses in the same ATM style as the vehicle for ease of service.
A "simple" retrofit like you are interested in, painted in your choice of satin black or satin silver(other colors available for minimal upcharge) and ready to install is priced at $785.00 shipped/fully insured via UPS.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have made arrangements with the body shop at the local Chevrolet dealer to install these for $200. So, my installed cost will be about $1000. It cost me more than $500 installed for the heated signal mirrors, and I have no regrets about those. Is $1000 cost-effective for HIDs? Probably not, but I can afford to pamper myself. So, when Maven lets me know he's ready, I will get this done. Other than possibly a rear camera, I expect this to be the last modification I will be doing to the HHR. I like to complete all modifications early in my ownership so I can enjoy them for a good long time.

Never Happened

I have lost contact with Maven. I have given up on getting HID headlights. I only modify a new-to-me car within a relatively short period after I get it. I want to enjoy the changes for a long time while I still have the vehicle. I am now finished modifying my HHR.

It's not too difficult to build your own, plus it is a lot safer than a PNP kit.

Take a look at this website, it's very informative: www.hidretrofits.com
