Anyone have any tips on applying touch up paint?

I was washing my HHR today and noticed that the hail storm we had last week took a few chips off the paint (I wasn't a happy camper after discovering this). Any tips to make it blend in?

yea a rock or something on the highway must have hit my hood, and i have a tiny chip, and i made it a tad larger while washing it, before i even noticed it. i need to get some 2010 silver touch-up paint as well.
