Cool Black Suede Headliner Installed

I did my Black Suede headliner yesterday. (It's Black, Honest, I just can't get a good photo of this material for some reason. I guess the "Auto" setting isn't the best choice for this. lol)

I installed it today.

Painted the Trim pieces with some GM Ebony, but the match is Off, so I will go Match up another color and respray the A and B Pillars. The trim pieces on the headliner are good enough since the don't butt up to a factory oem interior panel.

Was a B*tch installing this Non stretch suede material, do yourself a Big Favor and go to an Auto interior supply house and get one that has S T R E T CH to it.

I had to place a Fold in the back there was no way around it with all the curves and form fitting humps and bumps in our headliners.

I will get another headliner and redo it next year.

After FIGHTING the material, I sadly scrapped the embossed Spinder I made.

The Visors are going out to a Auto Trim Shop, letting the Pro's Sew them up in Black, Maybe Leather, to Match my seats.

Now I gotta scrub down the interior panels after sitting in my open trailer for a month while doing the sound deadening they are filthy, I just gave them a quick wipe down as I installed them with a damp papertowel.

Nice effect. What did you use for adhesive? I spotted the can of adhesive but could not tell what the brand is (I have a can of it around here somewhere I think). But can't remember the brand.

Thanks.

The Glue is- DAP Weldwood Contact Adhesive

Landau Top and Trim HHR Solvent Type Spray Grade
Yup the can actually has "HHR" on it.
(Industrial Grade)

OrangeWhip hooked me up with 2 gallons.

The local auto trim supply house sells it in 5 gallon cans only. About a hundred bucks for the 5.

1 gallon cans are available if you can find a local supplier that carrys them.
I didn't even use up a gallon so if your only doing yours 1 gallon is plenty.
Used a cheap harbor freight auto spray gun to apply it. I sprayed 3 coats for a good even coverage.

It's also Nice to have a Front dome light now as well.

Why GM did not put one up front in the '08's is beyond me.

The "map lights" in the rearview mirror are pretty useless.

As in my first post - " After FIGHTING the material, I sadly scrapped the embossed Spinder I made. "

I have it sitting in my trailer, I may use it when I get a different material with some Stretch to it.
Had I used it with this suede material, and forced the material down in between the legs near the body I thought the force of the foam would have popped it all loose in a short time.

After I bought this material at a sewing store, I remembered a local Automotive supply house that has a huge warehouse full of auto and marine grade interior material tools and other supplies. I will buy my next choice in headliner material there.

They literially have hundreds of choices and a staff that knows what each materials use is for in auto and marine applications, I saw headliner material that looked like alligator, ostrich, and anything you can imagine.

The choices are pretty much endless at this place.

This will work for now, but I will be replacing it next Summer with something unique. Hopefully I can use the spider then or something else I decide to make.
