How to release headrest???

OK. I was just wondering if there was trick to release the headrest from there mounts on the seats...typically you push the button, the headrest pulls up, then out...mine dont do that..once they get to the last slot on the post, they wont go any further. Im not trying to remove them for good, just release them to put some chrome spacers on the post for accent. Any tips?

Push the tab and lift. All 4 of mine do anyway.

Mine come all the way out with the tab pushed. I keep the rear ones out most of the time since it blocks the back window for me.

Once I got mine out I sprayed a little silicone down the tubes and now they come out really easy when I push on the button.

Push tab and lift, keeping tab pushed till the headrest is completely out. That's how mine work, and I'm usually taking out/putting in the rear headrests almost every other week for some reason or another.

I gotta guess you should take it back to the dealer... headrests are pretty standard as far as I know... no reason to make them stay in. Might be a defect.

finally got them off...evidently the 09 is different from the previous models. Theres a small hole on the outside post assembly. you have to stick something very small in there and fish for the release pin. its on the opposite post as the normal plastic button that adjust the headrest.
