Opinions Needed

I have a 2009 HHR SS with the black interior that has red accents on the doors and seats:

The dash has no red on it, and I think it doesn't blend in as well with just black.

I want to paint the waterfall panel around the radio/vents/HVAC controls a red that matches the other red:

What do you guys think?

Steve

I have the same interior. thought about doing the same. found a vendor on ebay that sells a plastic overlay in red that matches. Just haven't spent the money yet

Matching the red might be a long process,
merlot or victory red

Was that a custom overlay cut for the HHR, or a sheet of self-adhesive material?

Use SEM paint if you want. Good product.

Wouldn't be my taste, but to each their own. I think it would be too "in your face" for the entire waterfall. Now, maybe spraying the trim rings on the vents red (even a candy close to the car color so the chrome shows through) might be the ticket for a subtle look.

Just my opinion here and I don't mean to offend.
I think you should look at replacing that peeling shifter boot before worrying about dash colors. Maybe even something in a red leather.
That's the next thing on the list for my SS.

No offense, I'm open to all suggestions.

You're right, that peeling shifter boot has been bugging me. Are you talking putting a new stock boot on, or are there aftermarket boots available? Since you suggested a red leather, are you aware of a source for those?

Thanks
Steve

For the waterfall, I might pull the one off of my old HHR and paint it with red Plasti-Dip and put it on the SS just to see how it looks in red. If it looks like too much red, I could just peel off the Plasti-Dip.
