Rear Seat in 08 Panel
Has any one taken out the storage units where the rear seat would go and installed a rear seat in a HHR panel?

A lot of panel owners have done that..... I think there's even a how to post here on the forum.

Here's some threads you might find useful:
Install Rear Seat in Panel https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ear+seat+panel Adding After Market Rear Seat Belts to a Panel https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ear+seat+panel Hope this helps!! :thumb: |
Thank you gentleman I appreciate the quick reply.

No problem! :thumb: Good luck on the installation if you decide to do it!

Make sure you get all the "goodies" if you go this route, seatbelts etc. are obvious but there is a small storage bin right behind the seats that some people don't get when they buy the seats.... best to go to the salvage yard in person and grab the whole deal at one time.

I did it in my '08 Panel.:twothumbs:
I drove 115 miles each way to get the Matching Ebony Interior. From a salvage yard in Wisconsin. Mainly because they allowed me to remove the rear seats, belts and everything else Needed to do a COMPLETE Mod Install. This way I got every nut & bolt all seatbelts and parts for them even the stud Covers that are plastiuc snap on pieces. While there, I grabbed an extra rear tire cover and adjustable shelf and even the drivers seat pocket netting piece to put on the back of my front passanger seat. Now my seat backs Match and I have more storage for a few DVD's in them. I was Missing 1 rear seat headrest, but got it from a member here.:thumb: Doing the Removal yourself is pretty Easy, just bring a small Propane/MAPP gas torch with you, you'll Need it to heat the seat belt bolts as they used locktight on them at the factory. Also you get Eveything you Need to do it Right. I did not have to go searching around for bolts and nuts at certain Grades, I Had them. I took some small ziplock baggies to put all the small bits & pieces in and used a Sharpie marker to label them. GET the small storage box BEHIND the rear seat you will NEED it! :thumb: Easy and Very Functional Mod to your Panel. DO NOT use the rear seat IF you do not get EVERYTHING needed for a SAFE install. I myself would Not use "generic" seatbelts, all the holes are already there to install the original factory belts. I did Not even have to use a tap on mine to clean up the threads. Get yourself some headrest monitors and let your rear seat passengers sit back and enjoy a movie or video games. :D Total cost for everything I got was $216.00:D https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...eats-Belts.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...st-Testing.jpg |
Dang it! Didn't realize I needed to "GET the small storage box BEHIND the rear seat". Someone should add that detail to the "Installing rear seat in 07 Panel" tutorial. :(

Hi guys. Great to see so many people have tackled adding back seats to a panel. Of people who have done so, anyone use CalTrend seats?

I need the storage unit for back seat area of hhr panel.
Has anyone removed storage unit from the back of their H HR panel? Want to sell it to me? Let me know what it will cost me. My ZIP Code is 91901, Alpine California. Do you think that could be mounted on the back of a normal four-door seat? I'm trying to find a place to put some radio gear and that look like it would be a natural. Then again it may not fit for what I needed for.
I'm 71 years old and had to finally stop building my own hot rods. Since the heart attack the doctor says "buy what you need, pay somebody else to do the work" or "don't figure out lasting much longer". I'm also looking for a pair of running boards. My car is a 2008 ls. I'd any kits available to put a LS motor into an HHR? Appreciate any help you guys can give me. Stay healthy and God bless; Wayne E Byrd |

I did this swap out today. I was very thankfully for this article and pics.nominal tools required: 18mm (deepwell) nuts & bolts & a T30 torx somewhere it seems. I will have to go back and get the rear post mounted seat belt pieces soon ad the small tray behind the seat. Did not see that in the donor I used.. All the rest went in today. Very pleased.

I'm gonna have the only Panel left with NO rear seat. I prefer the storage bins. They don't talk.

DwRed2LT- Cool, least I won't be alone. And I have never wanted to add rear seats, enough friends want to go with me, they can crawl in back, I can throw a tie-down over them. :biggrin2:
