I was thinking of taking out the stock seats and putting in sport bucket seats in the front. I don't feel too comfortable sitting in the current seat and I want to spice my HHR up a bit. What are some good brands? what are my options? Will it be foolish to do this?

there are a lot of aftermarket options, you will need to cut and weld the new adjusters or re-drill to mount seats to the originals, depending! HHR SS seats are bolt in, but a little pricey. one thing I noticed while searching E-bay is that the shipping is expensive and if the don't fit or feel right, a return would be a nightmare.
Maybe check out a local speed shop to see what is available
