The plant tours were cancelled in favor of a $100/plate charity dinner in Plant 5 with GM dignitaries. Yeah, we thought it was stupid, too.

72-hour Head Count!

With 72 hours to go before the show, here is the current head count:

Desert Coyote
bigallis1
Don Battista
BlackHHR06
banditt90
the_shmoo
fastsuv (body shop permitting)
Docwylie
Chuck & Lee (red HHR '57 striping)
enri9267 (showing in Commercial Truck)

The current plans: meet @ K&S Performance, 811 Niagara Street in Tonawanda (corner of Niagara and Two Mile Creek) at 8:30am. Caravan to GM Powertrain for check-in. Park. Do last-minute touch-ups. Set up Tom's tent. Set up lawn chairs. Soak up cars. Get judged. Collect swag.

If anyone is interested in dinner afterward, last year me and Stacey went to the Texas Roadhouse on Young Street with Brian and Bertrand after the show. If y'alls are interested, chime in.

Funny story ... this $100/plate charity "dinner" has turned into a $100/head clusterf@ck. The plant's new communications director decided not to have:
* a silent auction
* a dinner (they're feeding the guests "finger-food desserts.")
* coffee (bottled water? You're paying $100 for BOTTLED F'ING WATER?!)
* a Q&A for the public with Troy Clark
* a post-event plant tour (although all the lights will be on)

She also decided, in her magnanimous way ...
* plant volunteers have to wear black with heels (no flats)
* plant volunteers are not allowed to eat anything
* plant volunteers have to bring their own umbrellas with them in case it rains so that the *valet parking* crew she's hired for the evening won't get wet (God forbid!)

And she's dumbfounded as to why she can't sell any tickets for this thing to the plant employees who aren't volunteering!

Basically, she has her head planted firmly sideways up her own @$$. This is not going to go well at all.

Geez Don...now you got me feeling stupid for buying a ticket!

nah...just kidding! The day I'd spend 100 bucks for finger food and water is the day they commit me to the asylum.

But on a more serious note...as I drove past the plant on my way home this evening I saw they had the big tents up and ready. WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!! Now all I have to do is squeeze in a carwash tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing all you fellow WNY/SO guys.

DC, is the communications director the chick that was previously assigned here in rochester and she had just transfered there when last years show was on?
Or, am I thinking of someone else?
