The only SSR I have actually seen on the road around me was that color. It's not too flattering on a vehicle. I like really deep purple on old cars but that's about it.

Captain, I really miss the flames, but it's your ride and you do what ever you please.

In the long run the vinyl would ruin my paint. I have one small spot of clear coat damage on the drivers side door from them that I am going to have repaired this week. I should have stuck with my first instinct.

What does it do to the paint? Does it cause it sweat under the vinyl? I don't blame you for taking them off. Will you have the car painted with clear all over or just in the spot where the damage was done? Just curious.

Just the spot will be touched up. It's really tint, about a 1/4". No damage to the paint itself though. My theory is that I must have missed a small fluid bubble in there and the freezing and unfreezing caused the clear coat damage. It is the first time I have seen something like that. The big problem with vinyl is sun damage. After a few years of being on the car the vinyl starts to fade and looks like crap. Then when you pull it off there is a visual difference in the areas on the paint where the vinyl was. The sun will fade the paint at a normal rate but the areas under the vinyl don't get any sun so they stay darker. Then it looks funny because you can see the where the vinyl was so your only option is repainting the vehicle. I'll go out and take a pic.
