I got mine from The Filling Station

And I agree with you 100%... that's why I got the badges I did.

Those ones were about $10/each. I cut the posts off mine and double-sided-taped them on.

I think this is the part here http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000014x

and it's for 49-52. They do have the front grill badge there as well... http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000014x

I didn't pick it up just because our hood isn't as 'tall' in that area as the original. I've seen a few others put that badge at the top of the stock chrome grille but there's something about it that doesn't make it look like it belongs to me. They've done a good job, it's just not for me.

I was thinking of a similar paint only with a black or 'gunmetal' type color on mine...

The problem w/ getting an original/repro of the hood emblem is that is doesn't quite follow the shape of the grill (since there is not enough hood to mount it same location). I had been given an origianl emblem and had it "tied" to the grill. Yes, it's an AM grill but the curve of it shouldn't be that different from the original.

I had passed it on to a fellow member who had a T-Rex grill and it looked liked it should have belonged on it. Can't find the pic right now.

After a little research, the pickup in my original photo is somewhere between 51-53. Fifty-one is the first year with side vent windows, and that type of grill was discontinued in 54.

Here's how a local body shop did pretty much the same thing.

Now, just get a visor, paint it red and you will look just like the truck in the picture.

The graphics will help a lot, Old School lettering will add to the look.
