I lived in California for five years and I was always amazed at the lengths that the California police would go in removing your rights, but confiscating your plates in the middle of the night !!! that is a new one even for that group...considering the expense California drivers incur just licensing and registering a vehicle yearly (in comparison to what we pay in Illinois...oh my god a benefit to living in Illinois and it actually comes from the Secretary of Corruption...er the Secretart of States Office...wow) you should be able to have any plate that you want...Totally ridiculous!!!

 

Since the police can confiscate state property, as license plate, I have found a web site that will make license plates any state and any color, so my plan is to order my I HOT HHR plates with the black and gold color, put them in the regular license holder and frame and when I get the regular Cal. license plate from the DMV I am going to frame it, put a small light on it and put it in the back window. Just haven fun.
