PS'd HHR Custom Grille

Just playing around in Photoshop, trying to get some ideas for a custom grille. This is what it could look like with Street Scene's grille mesh installed. I sure wish they would release their own grille shell for our HHR's soon, or at least sell this stuff in bulk sheets.

Looks good!

I also like the S.S. diamond mesh, I've thought about buying a large truck grille insert & cutting it down for the HHR, maybe having enough for the bumper opening also.

I thought about that as well, but the thing is, they run around $120, and they might have to be re-bent.

HillsdaleHHR: I've seen MikeloftyHHR's grille mod post, and it sure does look sweet!

now that I have the shell done, I can substitute any grill to it....just dont want to pay out big bucks right now....besides, I wanted a "flat" finish to go with the rest of the car....

vote for me for December!!!!

i take back what i said before..the expanded metal looks good and flat looks good on that color but a tighter nit would also be a nice touch if u can find the material..not sure if u have a METALSUPERMARKET franchize nearby..they may be able to help..

I have a chrome grill that I already cut the middle bars out like in the orignal pick that you photo shopped, only needs the mesh put in it. I ended up buying a different aftermarket grill so its just sittin in my basement if you are looking for one that has been partially modded.

OK, a little update:

After endless searching, and not coming up with any material I liked, I finally found a suitable SS Speed Grille off Ebay for a great price, so I decided to get it and cut it down. With this one, there probably won't be enough material left over to use for the lower insert, but it does come with smaller side pieces that could be used for something else. The newer Ford Super Duty's and GMC grilles might be big enough for this, but I'm not sure how they are curved, or if they have the emblem cutouts, or not, though.

Here's the part #'s:

2000 Ford Excursion Main Grille

950-76740 Black Chrome
950-77740 Satin
950-78740 Chrome
