Well it was a 'Threshing Bee', and one of my hobbies is running antique steam traction engines... I was working on a smaller one this weekend, 1910 George White owned by a local museum. It's a smaller engine but was fun to run. We were belted up to a shingle mill for the weekend and ran the mill pretty much 9-5 each day, so I got there around 7 to get the beast running, nobody else there, and those that were weren't awake so out came the camera

A little better perspective on size... this is a 'small' engine... roughly 25hp but around 1800ft/lbs of torque... only about 13ton

Thought I'd park beside a '52 while I was there for a quick photo

Too bad the sun was just coming up though...

Very cool!!! My Uncle was very into steam tractors. Went to Montgomery City, Mo yearly to see his shows. Even got to go onto of a wheat thrasher once to see how it worked. Sure do miss the ole feller.
