If you have the compass/auto dimming mirror, you may be "drawing" a slight amount of power from those options. Did you change/splice any wiring??

no cutting or splicing or tapping into anything. It was a striaght forward pull out the old and puch in the new. I have the auto dimming with compass, but no onstar or other features, and yes the push button is in the off position

Well, I guess I can't help.....sorry.

At this point, sounds like the fault of the bulb producer.

Its not a fault with the bulb producer or the bulbs themselves... we found out that the rearview mirror lights actually have a VERY MINIMAL power going through them ALL the time. Its a GM design element. Has something to do with the wiring for On Star and the "black boxes" attatched to the car itself. Even if you dont have On Star it is still wired in. This small power is just enough to light the LED's since they only require like .5 volts to light. It is perfectly normal and isn't appearant with standard bulbs because the electricity flow isn't strong enough to heat the wire to light it.

Hope this has helped in some way!

Yeah. The blue LED's stay lit all the time. Its never ever drained my battery and I've had the car sit without driving it for almost an entire week. I thought I was going crazy at first. No worries, just a "side effect" of using a lower wattage (read: better) lighting alternative! :twothumbs

With the LED interior lighting, did you lose the fade-out effect?
