'09 DRL or Auto Lights Disable?

Does anyone know how to disable the Daytime Running Lights or Auto Lights for '09 models? Apparently, this function was removed from the DIC on '09 models. I know you can turn the headlamp switch to Auto to turn them off each time, but I was hoping for a permanent off. Thanks.

Just remove the Fuse from the bus under the hood. I belive it's #31. That's what I did on my SS.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I did that on my Honda. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's a Chevy or HHR shop manual out there to buy to figure some of these things out..

No permanent off function. They will always come back on at the next ignition cycle if you turn them off with the on/off option. No turn off functions offered in programming of the BCM also. You could try unplugging the ambient light sensor on the top of the dash. I'm not sure what would happen though.

Thanks. I figured shutting off the Auto Lights wasn't an option. It's mainly the DRLs I wanted off; pulling the fuse worked fine (I didn't realize they had a detailed legend under the lid.). Thanks again, guys.

Nope

All auto functions remain the same, just no DRL's

Similar topic...I noticed that during our convoy to Tom's Farm, that Sarge and the black SS behind me did not have DRL. Did you folks find a way to turn these off, or is it an 09 SS thing..?

I just did the "turn to auto lights" to disable it for that trip... They still come on with each new start.. But, now that I have read the above, I'm gonna pull the fuse and see what happens!!
