'09 DRL or Auto Lights Disable?
I grew up in Clark.
I think the lights detract from the good looks of the car. If other drivers can't see me without the DRLs, then they should pay more attention to their driving (maybe they could stop talking and texting on their cell phones). It actually does make the bulbs last longer and since it saves vehicle energy, it does get better fuel mileage.

I have to agree with you, plus I think it's a matter of personal choice. In Canada it's the law that the DRLs have to be on when the car is not in park. But this isn't Canada. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't like it if the radio came on automatically when you turned the key. It's just a matter of choice.
Now I can't figure this car out. Today I checked to see if the lights went out after about 20 seconds or so as you suggested, and they didn't come on at all. I turned the key, started the car, took it out of park, and nothing. Maybe yesterday was just a fluke and fuse #31 is the remedy. At any rate , I'll keep on checking for a while. Who knows!?!

That's just north of Edison. I actually grew up in NYC, 20 years in Garfield, got tired of the congestion and moved out west.
I think #31 has probably solved your problem. I think it's the Autolights coming on now and then because the sensor on the dash has been shaded. Mine don't always come on at start-up.
Exactly why i moved to South Jersey. Plus the ocean. And a girl.

My dash sensor was in full sunlight when I tried this earlier. If the lights come on because of the sensor then they shouldn't stay on very long in daylight, correct?

Two very good reasons. Nearest ocean here is 400 miles away!
I used to vacation every year in Wildwood when I lived back there.

Yes I know it's the sensor on the dash. But i want to disable it. The reason is the lights are often turning on during the day only because of a shadow or depending where the sun is. I want to install HID, so I want to be able to control my lights before installing the kit.
AND by the way, just a reminder from a professional driver... DRL does not turn tail lights on. My problem with auto lights the headlights DON'T come on in foggy, but bright conditions. I really hate driving around in bad weather with people who think since they have DRL the tail lights are on!!!! And people who have HIDs out of adjustment, they blind other drivers when not aimed correctly!!!! end of rant.

I'm dating myself, but I used to really enjoy the car shows at the New York Coliseum.
