2006 CHEVY HHR LT 2.4 Shifter and shifting problems

My 2006 HHR 2.4 with 150k miles has been acting odd recently and was wondering if my problem is ANY other than the transmission. What happens is the shifter will feel stiff sometimes when going from P to R, then when I shift into D there is a jolt or like a pop going forward. Then when 2nd gear shifts there is a jolt, but not as bad as 1st, then 3rd is barely jolting. The check engine like did come up saying p0014 which is the camshaft position sensor, I changed one of the sensors but the jolting continues. Should I change the other sensor, then there's also the camshaft position actuator solenoid INT and EXH. Could a bad sensor or solenoid make the car act like that as far as the jolting. I really want to save this HHR, so any advice or help would greatly be appreciated.

P0014 is not sensor it is the VVT VALVE/actuator.

Put "p0014" into the search box top center of The page.

Cool thanks for the reply, so changing this camshaft position actuator solenoid valve will cure my shifting problems? Could these shifting problems be related to timing in the camshaft instead of a faulty transmission?

I have researched, that's what brought me to these forums, the problem is, I'm not seeing anyone mention p0014 with harsh shifting.

Try this link: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...13-14-a-28779/
But be prepared for a long thread to read.

That's hard to believe!

Type "hard shifting" into the search box, or many other variation. That is one of the most posted problems.

I'm not saying it will definitely cure the problem, but most likely. The code DOES NOT indicate bad sensor. It cites a mismatch between the sensor and the valve, sensors rarely go bad valves frequently go bad :QED.

Put "P0014" into Google to find much more about it.

Change both the intake and exhaust solenoids, follow the directions in that thread George posted.

Ok, I will replace the Camshaft actuator valve on both the Intake and Exhaust sides. Maybe follow up with a full synthetic oil change. Thanks for the link, I will follow the details of the valve switch and update whether the bad shifting continues.

Be careful with the wire harness connections and disconnect the negative terminal at the battery before you start the work

Also VERY IMPORTANT: Place a towel over the trunk lock - after you disconnect the battery. To prevent being locked out of the car.

I have a 2006 2.4 and had an actuator go out when it was under warranty (the service department ONLY replaced the ONE actuator- when I would have replaced both). I recently had the other actuator go out and I replaced them both (it is a VERY EASY AND FAST REPAIR)
