2007 2.4l Air Compressor ☠
Ok guys...I'm not about to spend over 1k having a new compressor put in my car. Though these insanely hot weeks are getting to be too much...I just can't do it. Especially since I just had to upgrade my house's electrical for about the same amount to avoid a house fire! 🔥 @firemangeorge wouldn't make it here to save my house!
So have any of y'all installed a new compressor...if so how difficult would you say it was?

So were talking about the AC compressor?
$1000.00 WOW!
Brand new they are around $200.
There is one bolt connecting the hose assembly to the compressor,
and two bolts connecting it to the block.
Evacuation and recharging the system shouldn't cost over another $200.
Space is tight but can be done with the car on jackstands.
That's how I did mine.

Do not throw away a defective compressor - by and large there is nothing to break there.
gaskets, bearings - all this is not expensive and maintainable.
It is easy to install a new compressor, but you will not be able to fill it with freon, check the tightness and start it up on your own. We need an experienced specialist with special tools and a supply of freon.
What would I do if I were you: buy a working compressor (maybe not a new one), find an experienced individual nearby and entrust him with all the work. You can sell your faulty compressor to the same guy, perhaps he will need it for restoration and subsequent resale.

He said he can't warranty it without replacing all of this...
Well my parts have a warranty if I buy them myself. Will I need an expansion valve? The compressor is fine. I just need to put a RockAuto order together.

On a side note this site has been driving me crazy all day. I have made several unsuccessful attempts to reply. I was getting errors trying to upload pics. It was asking me to log in over and over. It would time out trying to post my reply. I have had a rough week...this shouldn't be that difficult! 😆😭

That bill is a bunch of B.S.
Why the expansion valve and condensor.
NEW compressors are less than $200.00 so to charge $358 is a ripoff.
NEW condensors are under $75.00.
NEW expansion valves are less than $25.00.
I would seek another opinion and look elsewhere for the service.
