2008 2lt - sun roof access

My sun roof won't retract but will lift to vent position. Something is jambed in there. Anybody accessed the sunroof yet? I am assuming I have to remove the entire headliner. Am I correct in this assumption?

You will need to at least drop it down. It may require replacing the entire assembly since there are very few serviceable parts, unless you do find a foreign object jammed in a track.

My first question is do you hear the motor trying to retract the sunroof? If not, then it could be as simple as a bad control switch.

Never hurts to try the easy things first.
