Hi All,.Does anyone have a definitive list or definitely know which ecotec 2.2l model years and out of which cars and model years will fit in a 2008 HHR?
I have seen a few posts for a particular engine swap but not a good list to have when going engine shopping.. Mine jumped time and chewed itself up. Pistons holed, cylinders gouged, valves busted up, etc.

. I read that but wasn't sure. So the engines in Jimmy68's list are all compatible with the 2008 HHR 2.2L?
I may be thick but he mentioned the Saturn Ion would work but it wasn't clear to me that the others would,only that the L61 was used in those cars.
The different HP also threw me off. So, the L61's from those models and years are interchangeable with the 2008 HHR 2.2L?
Also, what about newer model year 2.2L backwards compatibility?

 

Newer backwards is a negative because of the VVT added in 2009

 

Some of the earlier other applications had a cam takeoff for power steering that might be a problem.

2007,08, would’ve been switched over the electric power steering.
