2009 2.2ls manual transmission doesn't shift right after replacing the clutch

I replaced the clutch in my 2009 ls 2 2l. Then I decided replace the shift cables but found they were to hard to pull through the firewall so reattached them on the tranny and the stock shifter. I initially didn't have 1st gear and the H shift pattern was in reverse order. I adjust the side to side cable making it it shorter which corrected the shift pattern Now 1st gear isn't acting right. It's hard to get moving in 1st gear, it shimmies like the clutch is having a hard time engaging with the flywheel like it's in a higher gear initially but when it gets rolling it's fine. 2nd gear occasionally shimmies. When down shifting from 4th to third it feels like it shifts to 2nd gear I stead and sometimes there is a loud clang noise right after the downshift. How can I adjust the shift cables to hit the gear properly? Any info is appreciated. Thank you

Since the H is backwards, my guess is you got the cables mixed up. The reason it shimmies in 1st is because you are really in 4th.

If you adjusted the old cables after the new clutch install, then my guess is they’re out of adjustment. Since you are using the original cables you need to get the adjustment back to where it was before. A new clutch will not change the shift cables position. In other words, you adjusted them when you shouldn’t have.
If you disconnected both ends of the cables, then make sure you have them seated back into the clamp holders. Try to return the adjustment back to where it was before.

Yes I believe I got them out of adjustment I screwed them up but I don't know where the cables were set prior to me disconnecting them. At this point my attempting to adjust them is blind guesswork. I have no procedure to go on and can't find any information online as to which cable to start with. Is there a standard procedure to use as a starting point or which cable to start with first?

I did get the H pattern back by adjusting the cable.that is utilized when the stick shift is moved side to side left and right but that did not solve the shimmy problem.. when the car gets rolling and past the shimmy it acts like it's in 1st gear having the appropriate road speed range and rpms.

When the cables are out of adjustment, the problem is that you cannot move the shifter into some of the gear positions. This sounds more like a clutch problem.
