Smile 2009 hhr electrical problems

Hi,
I own a 2009 HHR with 2.0, auto trans, and 90,800 miles. The ous tside temp has been around 35. Two days ago while driving home it started shifting like a 1970's muscle car, harsh and fast. I also noticed a clicking noise at shifter when braking. When I arrived home found that the doors did not unlock when put into park. Yesterday I noticed the cruse control is also inop. All these things seemed to happen at once. Have seen some similar post but no answers of what is causing these issues. I unhooked the battery for a hour thinking that might reset something no luck. I stopped at Autozone and they could find no codes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't have enough money to visit the dealer for repair at this time. Thinking of trying to find the BCM and unplugging it for awhile and see if it resets everything.

If it is still the original battery, I would suspect the battery needs replacing. Did Autozone test the battery for you?

The electrical system in these cars definitely goes a little strange when the battery is low in charge or about to die.

whopper. The OP has a double post on this problem. Could we get one removed to avoid the confusion.

Like whopper stated. Check the battery and connections first.

But, before going further, you need to clarify what car you have. You stated it has a 2.0L engine. That is the turbo engine for the SS.
The regular HHR has either a 2.2L or 2.4L

Clarify which one you have so we don't try to give out any bad advice.

Get the battery tested - and tested quickly - your issues are classic symptoms of a failing battery.

Most auto parts store can usually test the charge level, as well as do a load-test to see how healthy it is - for free.

2009 2.2 liter, original battery, let's see, get the battery tested, and when you replace it, get the proper sized GM Delco battery for it, why? 'cause this one lasted you 5 years!!
My '07 lasted 4 and a half and the replacement has been just fine

Thanks everyone. I went to Autozone and had the battery checked. They told me the battery was ok it passed the load test, but it needed a slight charge. I went home and put my charger on it and after an hour hooked cables back up. Everything started working just fine again. I will probably replace the battery soon. Cruse control, auto door locks, remote start, and clicking noise all fixed.
