Codes aren't in words. They're in numbers. Sometimes those descriptions(words) can be flat out wrong and point you to the wrong part.

Best to get the actual numbers. If someone tries to give you the description, say "No Thanks. Give me the actual trouble code number".

Better yet. Get your own reader, scanner or phone app.

With that info, it may be a code waiting to clear itself. A stuck purge valve can cause a lean code.

BDR1973, I hope you're still around & got this problem fixed by now, but if it hasn't been fixed, I have some new & potentially relevant info on this: I had the same exact thing happened 2 times today, but I'm pretty confident as to why it was happening both times. 1st time, I started the car after oil & air filter change, without the Fresh Air Intake Hose attached (it was broken in 3 places), & the whole works as described in the very first post happens.

I then duct taped the hose back together, installed it then started up again & it ran normal again. Removed the hose & everything went crazy again. Reinstalled again & it ran normal.

Bottom line, check out your fresh air intake hose for holes, breaks, etc...

chaosdsm: Ever since them changed the power steering control module is what they called it. Only way to get to it was replace the entire steering column. Its been about three weeks now and gauges not going crazy anymore. I've only have the ABS & TC light come one but goes off after I turn car off and start it back up. That lasted about 3 days and never done it again. My lean code has gone away for now. the air hose to air filter does have a crack in it and I need to fix it. Car running great and going to keep it
was about ready to get rid of it with all the bad luck i've been having.

Here is the part number - GM P/N: 15865168 - many here refer to it as the "wooly worm"

Well its been almost a year since i had this issue. 2010 LT w/about 144,000 miles on it. Will try and check ground connections this weekend. What are the signs of an instrument panel going bad.
