2011 HHR panel 5 speed, key will not turn OFF !

Just returned from running around, I pull into the driveway and the key will not turn. The car is running and it will not budge to turn it off. I'm a car guy so I thought I knew all the tricks.
Help!

Gm had a problem with the HHR ignitions. It is not a recall but the dealer will replace the ignition at no charge. They replaced the one on my 2008 last fall.
If a customer comes in complaining about the ignition they replace it.

X2 it's should be under warranty if the the key cyl will still turn foreword you can stall the car and disconnect the battery for the night the hook up the battery and start it in the morning.

I don't understand why they are still having the problem on 2011's when they have been replacing these for so long.
Wouldn't you think the fix would be in the 2011 production ??

This is a known issue on Cobalts as well. I had mine fixed in 2011 under warranty. Sounds like they never even tried to get a permanent fix for this. I know of at least a handful of Cobalts that had this issue in my club alone :-/

It would guess that it is a vender issue. As long as the vender is making good with gm and telling them that they are fixing the problem they will continue to use them.

Glad you got it fixed.

Half a day? I took mine in to have the same switch replaced PLUS had them swap out the radio(warranty). Took the tech 2 hrs total for both.

What if the 2011 is an auto? How would you remove the key and kill the car?
