From wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HC-12a
Because of its high flammability, it is unacceptable to replace R-12 with HC-12a in the United States.[2][3] Thus its use in public transport vehicles is illegal in the

United States since 1990.

....only if you get caught. Lol

seems kind of stupid to me....people get all worked up and scared over few oz. of propane yet they ride around with appox. 20 gal. of gasoline. ....in case of a wreck, the gasoline is more of a concern to me.
And most people dont realize r-134 burns too..lol

Read the wiki article; turns out a busload of people died in a fire caused by it.

It's not about the flammability but the damage to the ozone.
I still wonder why it was allowed to be produced anyway.

Will they even ship that with the propane content and will it require a vacuum and fill? This isn't technically my car so I don't wanna get too deep into it and think it holds for a couple of years before needing a recharge if I remember correctly. It looks like from the table I'm a little low so I'll grab another can but for now it is working. I wouldn't have even worried about it but my wife is using it to transport my mother-in-law to the doctor since it is low enough for her to comfortably get in and out of. Thanks for the info.

There is a dealer that sells it here close to me...and yes they will ship it...probably ground freight. From what they say it will mix with any refrigerant without harm....just may not cool as well as straight stuff. It is or was like 11.00 per 6 oz. can. Look at their website...Duracool...
i never mixed it....i did complete flush, new orings and all, so i had to pull a vacuum on mine. The molecules of propane are larger than r-134 so not as prone ti leak
