AC Question.

My 07 Premiere Edition HHR is just over a week old.
I just came back from a 200 mile trip, and I noticed something that I don't know if its a problem or not.

I will try and explain.
While driving, I turned the AC off, to see if my MPG would change on the Display. The "Re-Circulate" Air button was on.
I noticed even though the AC button was not lit, I was still getting cold air coming out of the vents.
I then pressed the "Out-Side" air button turning off the "Re-Circulate", and it got warmer which makes sense to me.

Can someone comment if there's works the same way.
Maybe the compressor is still engaged when using "Re-Circulate".

Thanks,
Keith

This seems to come up once or twice a year..........

GM's ac is set up so that if you use the recirc while on all floor or defrost, it turns on the ac, even though the light doesn't come on.

GM has done this for a number of years.

At the time, I was not blowing in Defrost or the Floor. Just straight out towards me. I will have to revisit tomorrow, but it sounds like its not a problem.

Check your owners manual under recirculate, bet it mentions it there!

When using A/C if you have it on outside air you have to cool the outside air down. On recirc you are shutting out the outside air and recooling the inside air to get cooler.

Keep in mind that when you turn off the A/C that there is still some charged freon in the condenser. It usually takes a few minutes before the air starts to warm up. I usually turn on my A/C for a few minutes to cool down the vents on a warm day when its not hot enough to use the A/C.

BTW, I don't think you can turn it to recirc. on all floor, can you?
