All HHR’s have keyless entry, first check your options sticker inside the glove box door, look for option AP3, then you can check your DIC and ensure remote start is on.
If you have AP3 then you also have remote start.
If your HHR came with FOBs but they don’t work, change the battery it’s a CR2032.
If you have AP3 but no FOBs you will need, FOB # 15114374.
There are many threads about cleaning soldering the battery cage, and so on, in the search window.

Yes, they do, it’s the remote start that is deleted from rental fleet and standard transmission.

Maybe the question is how do you get a fob to work?

Go to any auto parts store or eBay or Amazon and get a new fob that includes the programming module.

Like this:
Amazon Amazon

That Amazon link states doesn’t work with an 09 HHR. But I’m sure Dorman and others supply a fob for your application

The reason it says that is that it is 3 button. But that's why I said "Like this", I didn't care enough to do a deeper search.

Did you fix it, order a new FOB? Determine if you have remote start?
Enquiring minds want to know!
