Another key stuck victim

We've had our 2009 SS for a little over a year now, and have absolutely loved it. It only has 30,700 mi on it. It felt like was getting a new car, so I justified the payment.

We did the ignition switch recall a while back. Took them a month to get us in, so that was little unnerving.

Last night the key got stuck and won't come out. The push the button thing didn't release it. So it's out in the driveway with the key in it.

I read that there is special coverage for the shifter replacement. My year car was listed in the article. When I called Chevrolet customer service, she said my VIN was not included. I said so does that mean my shifter does not have the plastic part? She said I don't know that until they diagnose. Seems like they should know?

End result of all the phone calls, is that we have an appointment a week from now. They have no loaner car for us and he didn't even say he'd fix it that day. He said they'd diagnose and if they have the part, fix it. I did get 1 hour of free diagnosis from Chevrolet Customer Service. She was audibly surprised when I told her the mileage on the car. That along with my shaky voice, I believe, moved her to do that.

I was going to ask a question, but as I was writing this, I received a reply from my PM to Chevrolet Customer Service on here. She says there is special coverage associated with my VIN. She offered to assist with the dealership. I wrote her back with the details of my appointment. So I hope she can help get us in sooner.

Thanks so much for being here Chevy HHR Network! It's funny, every time I research a problem, you guys are almost always mentioned on other sites.
