It is not a bad idea. There certainly would be benefits of having it. I do see that for many people it will just be another well is this catastrophic or just a minor thing. Not too mention but some codes that I have seen discussed for our cars seem to be called one thing but be caused by a different part of the car. Tranny codes that are due to a faulty cam sensor on the 2.4 for example.

In all honesty though, I would love to have this feature in my car so I do hope it goes through.

Polls, on those forums, indicate that most owners (of whatever respective vehicle the forum supports) are in favor of this.

I would think it's PROBABLY a good idea. But, I really don't think the manufacturers want owners 'fooling" with their cars. Go to the highly trained, professional, honest, dealership to have it corrected.

The other forums are also encouraging owners to sign the petition. However, I've read in a few different places that petitions like this and sent to the general White House email address, are generally s---canned, with no discussion.

If, and that's a big if, any politician does embrace the idea, it will take years of hearings before a mandate will be created.
