Even if the car has all the XM stuff you would need to pay to get that service. I think the "free" service is only for the first 3 months after the car was bought, so avis would have used that up. I could be wrong but I thought that was the deal.

This being my first "new" car from a dealership, I asked about the remainder of the warranty, etc., and figured those minor things were covered. It's a GM Certified vehicle after all...why would they not have noticed all this stuff with their 5,645,087 point inspection? Dumb girl thing to think huh?
The only thing I'm REALLY worried about is that tire/alignment thing, as I always have my children in the car with me, and it can't be safe. Doesn't help the fact that the tires are so darn expensive, and I don't want to be replacing them every two months.
I wasn't "blaming" the dealership for what is wrong, I just want some answers, and some good service. Shouldn't be too much to ask, right?
Well, live and learn on the carfax. But that just shows you to never trust a car salesman, he may be honest, but he also may not be.

Is this a true GM Certified vehicle? Or did you buy it from a GM dealership? Big differance. If it is a true GM Certified used car, it has a 7/100 powertrain warranty, reguardless of year. That was something GM added to all Certified vehicles around March 2007 (backdated to 2003 models I believe). But, your paperwork would stated if it was or not, again, not what was "told" to you. In writing is where it counts and they know this.

Your tires will last longer than two months. If the alignment is off, it's off. But it would have to be WAY off to eat tires in two months. That is if the tires were good and even tread all around when you purchased. It's just going to be hard to prove it was off this late in the game. Curious, how many miles have you put on it? Might be worth a call to Chevy directly... But if they say no, then just get the alignment and tires done. Sucks, but what else can you do.

Did anyone inspect the vehicle for you before purchase? IF so, hope it more than the ole walk around and kick the tires......

Kinda a day late (or 2 months in your case).

I feel your pain:::::::::::::

I drove to Detroit to pick up my HHR from Ohio (4hrs), a GM certified so I know I have the warranty. Now it was a cold winter day so neeless to say I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb.
I'm thinking that they would take extra good care of me since I drove four hours to pick up the car...nope!
1) Car pulled to the right on the way home so it needed aligned
2) Paint chips (those are supposed to be fixed when GM Cert)
3) Car was FILTHY (again, supposed to be done when GM Cert)
4) With GM Cert you are supposed to recieve a CarFax or similar (just like you, I got my own after I got home)
5) With GM Cert you are supposed to get a check list of all the things they checked and who perfomed the check (still waiting on mine)
6) They were supposed to send me a new remote (it only had one) never got it
7) rear hatch (panel) release was broke
8) gave me some cheezy aftermarket $3 rubber mats for the front

Wasn't real impressed with the customer service or the way they handled the GM Certification with no documentation. Even the sales manager told me that I didn't get the free XM or the added 3 months on the warranty or even the 1yr of OnStar...lucky I was smart enough to activate the XM (they gave me my 3 months) and OnStar (they gave me my 1yr safe and sound) and suddenly they realized that I did get 3 added months of warranty (in addition to the 7/100)

I guess I'm just used to the Honda or Euro certifications, it's like you're buying a new car and they treat you like that also.

So, I feel ya...and BTW, my car gets aligned Tuesday and I'm paying for it! They said I must have hit a pothole on the way home from Detroit

I already have an XM subscription for 2 vehicles, as I have the ones you can put in and take out. I tried to get the one in the HHR activated, and they said since the channels weren't showing, that it didn't have the box or whatever in it. Oh well. I was hoping it was in there, as I lose quite a bit of sound quality and volume using the removable ones through the radio...no matter which car I put it in.

No, The HHR as a connectory so you won't loose sound quality! Connect it through the input link on the front of the radio. The HHR radio comes with a connector on the front of the radio just for this purpose. Basically it sends the A/V over a 3.5" headphone connector. I use this to connect my Sirius radio, and it works great. MUCH better than FM modulation.

Yes, it had all the GM Certified labels and such. Bought from a Chevy dealership. I've only put 1000 miles on it since purchase. And yes, I checked the tires, so did hubby, they looked great. I don't know how anyone would expect me to notice an alignment problem without some driving done, or something showing on the tires.

No, I didn't have a personal mechanic inspect it. As I said, the stupid girl in me fell in love with the car, and assumed I'd be taken care of with it being Certified, and with it being from a dealership, and with it being under warranty.

Guess it's my fault for looking at it, and test driving it at night. But, there were 3 other people in line to look at it, and the owners' son had it in Michigan for a week before I got to see it. Made sure I was there when it pulled back into the lot, so I"d be first to see it, and bought it that night, picked up the next day. Never again will I make that mistake.

And, just so you guys who are trying to pick me apart know....I KNEW there would be some things wrong with it, after all, it's a USED car. But, that doesn't mean I can't try to get them to fix it, since I'm not sure what exactly the warranty means (yep, there's the dumb girl again, huh?). Maybe this makes me an idiot, but I have to at least try under warranty before I dump all that money in out of my own pocket.

I do use it that way. Still lose quality and volume. The regular FM stations are much louder and more clear in every car I've used either XM radio in. I've had it for 5 years now, and had several different receivers. Same deal.

Must be something goofy then; The volume and sound quality is much better on my satellite radio than FM. On my previous car, I had to use the FM modulation and it sucked, but the A/V cable and port in the front of the HHR's radio works very well.

My brother in law has the same problem. No matter which station we tune to, it's way lower and not as clear. Maybe it's just our area?
