Which Brand? Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve

I hope this is the right place for this.

I'm about to replace the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valves again (I replaced both about 10 or so years ago.).

After checking RockAuto, I see a list of 33 Int. & Ex. in various brands from $14 to $50 each. GM is about $40. each. Dorman, Standard, Standard Blue Streak, etc. and many brands I've never heard of. Standard Blue Streak has a pair for $50. I've generally used GM.

Any brand recommendations?

Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve
** GM P/N - From oldest to newest p/n as of March 2013:
--- Intake 12628347 = 12646783 = 12655420 = 12679099
--- Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784 = 12655421 = 12679100

I copied this from our part number list

Do you have a CEL code indicating a problem with them, they don’t need to be replaced by time or mileage

Thanks, Blue. My CEL has come on/off twice and I get the occasional "sputtering" like I did when i had to replace them before. I haven't had a chance to check the codes yet, but I will. I decided to do a little research and was surprised at how many brands there were. The GM pair would be about $80 plus tax and the SMP Blue Streak about $50 plus tax. I don't know who the other brands are, so I'm leaning towards the Blue Streak.

Don’t go by price go by proven reliability. After you check the codes , post the codes here we’ll decipher them for you. They might indicate a different problem

Thanks, I'll check them in the next couple of days. I know you're right about price; you usually get what you pay for.

There might be 33 brands listed but I’ll bet there are only 4-5 actual manufacturers of those.
Now if we could only figure out who makes which ones……..🤔

The codes are P0010 and P0011. It looks like the intake solenoid? From the replacement thread, it looks like 12679099 is the latest part number for the intake solenoid and 12679100 is the latest exhaust solenoid. I think it will be smart to replace both (one at a time) and use GM parts to save maybe doing it again down the road with cheaper parts.

I see in Blue's post above, these seem to be the latest part numbers.

They are, you can’t take change both while you have the air filter box lifted up out of the way, be careful with the plastic locks, they brake easily if you force them.
